Associate Professor Dr. Tassana Boontong was elected President of the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council for the 2026–2030 term. The current Council represents the 11th four-year term since the establishment of the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council in 1985. This is her fifth term as President of the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Associate Professor Dr. Tassana Boontong is one of Thailand's most distinguished nursing leaders. Throughout her career, she has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of nursing and midwifery education, professional practice, leadership, regulation, and health policy, both nationally and internationally.

She is currently the Founding Dean of the Princess Agrarajakumari Faculty of Nursing, Chulabhorn Royal Academy. With extensive experience in education, health policy, and professional regulation, she serves on several national committees and governing bodies, including the National Health Security Board, the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University Council, and the Srisavarindhira Thai Red Cross Institute of Nursing Council. She also serves as Secretary-General of the Princess Srinagarindra Award Foundation and the Princess Chulabhorn Award Foundation, and as Vice Chairperson of the Srisangwan Award Committee.

Previously, she served as Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, and as Founding Dean or Chairperson of the Faculties of Nursing at Srinakharinwirot University, Suan Dusit University, Thammasat University, and Mae Fah Luang University.

Internationally, Associate Professor Dr. Tassana Boontong has held numerous leadership positions, including Member of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), member of the WHO Global Advisory Group on Nursing and Midwifery, member of the ASEAN Joint Coordinating Committee on Nursing, member of the Florence Nightingale Foundation Global Committee, member of the ICN Observatory Group on Nursing and Midwifery Regulation, and Chairperson of the World Academy of Nursing Science.

Beyond the nursing profession, she has also served in several prominent national leadership positions, including Member of the National Legislative Assembly, Senator, Vice President of the Senate, and Vice Chairperson of the National Reform Council, becoming the first nurse to hold several of these distinguished national leadership roles.

As President of the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council, Associate Professor Dr. Tassana Boontong is committed to strengthening the Council's capacity to fulfil its mandate under the Professional Nursing and Midwifery Act, B.E. 2528 (1985) and its amendments. Her vision is to ensure high standards of nursing and midwifery education, professional practice, ethics, and regulation in order to protect the public, strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforce, and enhance the health and well-being of the Thai people.
