Licensing



     Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC) provides license services for nurses from overseas and Thai nurses who obtained a degree in nursing from abroad. According to the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Act B.E. 2528 (1985) and Revision of the Act B.E. 2540 (1997), a nurse who graduated from an institute located outside Thailand and would like to practice as a registered nurse in Thailand, must pass the nursing competencies assessment and licensing examination which is offered in Thai language. 

Licensure for non-Thai Nurse who received Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Abroad

     A foreign nurse who would like to practice as a registered nurse in Thailand, must pass nursing competencies assessment and licensing examination. The application process is as follows:
1. Submitting an application form with the following documents to the TNMC committee in order to evaluate for eligibility to take the licensure examination. 
          A copy of their degree/certificate in Nursing/Midwifery.
          A copy of the Nursing and Midwifery curriculum.
          A copy of their transcript.
          A copy of their home registered nurse license.
          A copy of a valid passport or Identification card.
2. A nurse who is eligible to take the licensure examination submits an application for licensure/registration and takes the examination. The examination is comprised of eight areas:
         Obstetric Nursing
         Maternal and Child Nursing
         Pediatric Nursing
         Adult Nursing
         Geriatric Nursing
         Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing
         Community Health Nursing and Primary Medical Care
         Law for Professional Nursing and Midwifery
3. A nurse who is not eligible to take the licensure examination must follow the guideline of the committee
4. A nurse who has passed the examination in all subjects will be granted with a nursing and/or nursing and midwifery license.

 

Licensure for a Thai Nurse who received Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Abroad
The application process is as follows.

         1.1 A copy of their degree/certificate in Nursing/Midwifery.
         1.2 A copy of the Nursing and Midwifery curriculum.

         1.4 A copy of their current registered nurse license (if any).
         1.5 A copy of a valid passport or Identification card.
2. A nurse who is eligible to take the licensure examination submits an application for licensure/registration and takes the examination. The examination is comprised of eight areas:
         2.1 Obstetric Nursing
         2.2 Maternal and Child Nursing
         2.3 Pediatric Nursing
         2.4 Adult Nursing
         2.5 Geriatric Nursing
         2.6 Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing
         2.7 Community Health Nursing and Primary Medical Care
         2.8 Law for Professional Nursing and Midwifery
3. A nurse who is not eligible to take the licensure examination must follow the guideline of the committee
